Difference Between Impulse Turbine and Reaction Turbine

As I all mention in my previous article about impulse turbine and reaction turbine, now in this article i will tell you all about difference  between Impulse turbine and Reaction Turbine.

Difference Between Impulse Turbine and Reaction Turbine:

Impulse Turbine

  1. In impulse turbine steam passed from nozzle and hit with blades.
  2. Steam hits with high velocity with the blades.
  3. When steam hits with blades it's velocity remains constant.
  4. Blades of impulse turbine are symmetrical.
  5. There is a nozzle in impulse turbine.

Reaction turbine

  1. In reaction turbine steam passed from guide vane and hits with the blades.
  2. Steam hits with high pressure with blades and increase the kinetic energy of the blades.
  3. When steam hits with the blades it's velocity remains not constant and decrease.
  4. Blades of reaction turbine are not symmetrical.
  5. There no nozzle but guide vane work as nozzle.
