Steam and Gas Turbine In Mechanical Industry

Steam and Gas Turbine:

Steam Turbine is a prime mover in which the moment of the steam changes and get rotatory motion from it. In reciprocating steam engine, steam act on the face of steam piston. In the result of this piston start the reciprocating motion.
There are so many types of turbine that are used in Mechanical industry in different way and also for different work.

Classification of Steam Turbine:

  • According to made of Steam action
  • According to direction of Steam flow
  • According to exhaust condition
  • According to the pressure
  • According to the number of stages
There are the two most used turbines which are mostly used in industry and also used for other work.
  1. Impulse Turbine
  2. Reaction Turbine

Working principle of Impulse Turbine:

In this turbine, Turbine blades moves with the help of steam impulse that's why it's called impulse turbine.

Working principle of Reaction Turbine:

In this turbine, Steam fell on turbine blades at high pressure and in reaction blade start the movement due to specific shape of turbine blades.
